I want to thank all of those who outwardly supported me during the past months; it has been a great honor & pleasure to have you with me.
To my many friends and volunteers that showed up to almost every event, I am so impressed with your dedication; our campaign showed so much effort and spirit than I can ever express in words and the care and concern for supporting the ideals of our Democratic society was unparalleled.
As we look forward to the next legislative session, remember that the members of the general assembly are a mix of many different skills and experiences, that’s what makes it work.
I have 26 years experience as a bail agent, where the wheels of justice touch the ground, and 6 years as a member of the Adams County executive board of community corrections, where I was appointed by the County Commissioners. From this, my views of public safety are unique and I believe that the criminal justice system is severely broken and we can’t keep putting legislative band-aids on the break, we need real accountability.
When I ran for office in HD30, my goal was to be in a position to fix these issues for the betterment of all Coloradans. Even before my campaign, I had developed several plans to aid the people of our district and Colorado, all the people, not just those in our party or in our district. I see the effects of the system, its strengths and weaknesses, from beginning to end, and through those experiences I see the waste and bad decorum that runs rampant and I have developed ways to decrease expenditures and increase revenue through sources that are sadly disregarded.
So, in addition to my thanks, I felt I needed to let all of our officials know that I want to extend my help to any of the members of the General Assembly that feel that they may benefit from my experience and ideas about improving this part of our government that has been neglected.
Thank you again for your time and good luck to all who are up for reelection. May God bless you and support you.
Hello everyone.
I am excited to see that my site is still getting hits so I thought I would take a minute to discuss and important issue for all Coloradans.
Shortly after I decided to run for office, I was contacted by the proponents of then Initiative 92. Initiative 92 aimed at getting a proposition on the November ballot that would make our streets safer and bring accountability to the Government programs that create a revolving door for criminals and finance their release with taxpayer dollars ... anyone can see this is Criminal Welfare!
When I learned of the the initiative and how it corrected a portion of the faults with our broken Criminal Justice system, I was honored to be consulted and eager to participate. From April to August Safe Streets collected over 170,000 petition signatures, more than any initiative in the history of Colorado initiatives! On August 30th the signatures were certified by the Secretary of State and the initiative became formally:
Proposition 102. A Proposition to make Colorado SAFER.
Did you know that our State and local Governments spend millions of our tax dollars every year on criminal welfare programs called Pretrial Services? These programs use our tax dollars to release dangerous criminals from jail, without requiring the defendant to provide any security that they will return to court.
This is ridiculous! and we need to STOP it!
It might be okay for the Government to help people who have little resources and who are charged with relatively minor crimes, but WHY should our tax dollars go to release rapists, murderers, and child molesters (among others) from jail, without any guarantee that the victim will get their day in court?!
Proposition 102 will place common sense limits on Government funded bail, by mandating that violent criminals cannot be released on our dime, with no security to make sure they follow their release conditions.
